Trujillo

Trujillo, located on the northern coast of the country, was the center of power of the Mochica and Chimu cultures. Its historical center is full of buildings from the colonial era, whose most distinctive feature is the trellis-style iron grillwork. It is the home of the Marinera, a beautiful and elegant dance named in honor of the Peruvian Navy. This city is known as the City of Eternal Spring, thanks to the agreeable weather that can be enjoyed throughout the year. It is a short distance away from Chan Chan, the world’s largest pre-Hispanic city made of mud, the pre-Inca pyramids of el Sol y la Luna and Huanchaco, where one sees the traditional caballitos de totora – reed boats, and beautiful beaches.
